Tricks     In a small town of a Polish province a 10-year-old boy dreams, watches the trains passing by, scatters coins on the rails, marks out his destiny with tin soldiers... and follows his 17-year-old sister everywhere, wishing ardently that his father returns.     This beautiful film by Andrzej Jakimowski, extremely well played by young actors unwinds in summer torpor. It emanates with nostalgic poetry and fresh sensuality, typical for small towns of the former Eastern block, where nothing really happens, boarding on ennui. But where the smallest strange detail takes on a meaning of a secret sign... - D. F.
