CHARMING
Tricks
* Summer holidays in a small Polish town. Stefek, 10, has nothing to do, so he accompanies his pretty sister (Ewelina Walendziak, photo) to her nerves-tattering job interviews and plots, so that the man, in whom he recognized his father and who changes trains at the local train station every morning, comes back home. Andrzej Jakimowski sets up slowly, with tiny touches, to tell his charming story,

that takes the road of the youth . Initially diverted by his scarce ideas that seem to lead nowhere, one ends up seduced by the diffused poetry of this chronicle of deep Poland and by the unruly obstinacy of the young heroes in rejecting the fatality of bad luck. L. D.
